Event Details

Join us for a special Sustainable Transport Futures event as we welcome Professor Karen Lucas from the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds. Karen will be presenting the results of her new report: Inequalities in Mobility and Access in the UK. This study provides a rapid review of the evidence on the equity and inclusion outcomes of technological, behavioural and policy innovations in the UK transport system to 2040. This is an important issue because inequitable mobility and the associated reduced access to jobs, good, services and other activities can seriously impact on people’s wellbeing and life choices affecting their cost of living, ability to work, health, educational attainment and overall quality of life.

The Transport Knowledge Hub is a fantastic resource and I’m really excited about the opportunity to explore how we can maximise its use among transport stakeholders. In the South East Midlands, investing in local transport infrastructure has unlocked significant economic growth. The Hub offers a formal framework for sharing expertise with decision makers around the UK, as well as learning from the experience of others. This will enable more investment to be directed towards  local and sustainable forms of transport.
