Transport Focus has found that four in ten people say they won’t use public transport again until they feel safe. The number of people happy to use public transport as soon as restrictions are lifted has fallen from 24% to 18%, since the first week of the survey – this is now the third. 72% of people now say they won’t use public transport unless social distancing is in place and 63% would not be happy using public transport unless passengers are required to wear face masks/coverings. Older people are less happy than younger people to use public transport unless face masks are mandatory. 69 per cent of those people over 65 take this view compared with 53 per cent of people aged 15-24.
