There is updated allocation of some of the £100m available as part of the Growth and Housing fund established by Highways England in 2015 in their Road Investment Strategy.

The Government’s £15bn Road Investment Strategy included a £100m Growth and Housing Fund (GHF) pot which provides financial contributions towards the cost of road improvements that are needed for new developments.

Confirmed funding allocations include:

  • £8.6 million for the M181 Lincolnshire Lakes project in North Lincolnshire which will allow more than 5,000 new homes to be built and up to 4,000 jobs to be created by 2028. North Lincolnshire Council is topping up the remaining £4.7 million using developer contributions.
  • £250,000 for the Turks Head development in Honiton, to allow 300 homes and 19 hectares of employment land. The grant is supported by developer contributions of £260,000.

The Transport Knowledge Hub is a fantastic resource and I’m really excited about the opportunity to explore how we can maximise its use among transport stakeholders. In the South East Midlands, investing in local transport infrastructure has unlocked significant economic growth. The Hub offers a formal framework for sharing expertise with decision makers around the UK, as well as learning from the experience of others. This will enable more investment to be directed towards  local and sustainable forms of transport.
