First month of London’s ULEZ

View original

Transport for London has reported that since launching the ULEZ in central London on 8 April, the ULEZ has already seen a significant increase in vehicle compliance. The number of older, more polluting non-compliant vehicles has reduced by 9,400 on an average day. The findings show that in the first month of operation, the compliance rate with the ULEZ standards was around 74% in a 24-hour period and 71% in congestion charging hours which is an increase from 39% in February 2017 and 61% in March 2019.

The Transport Knowledge Hub comes at a vital time for our transport networks. As our population continues to grow and our roads become more congested, public transport has an increasingly important role to play in keeping our country moving. Investment in local transport infrastructure, such as rail networks and bus services, can have a huge impact on development and economic growth in local areas, so I’m delighted that the Hub will provide the guidance and expertise local decision makers need to make effective investments.
