Green Alliance publishes smart transport report

View original

Green Alliance has published a new report warning that unless the UK embraces new digital technologies, it risks “missing out on the green transport revolution.” The report states that the UK needs to ensure it gains the most from the growing low-carbon transport market, which includes rapidly rolling out integrated mobility apps, remote diagnostics and accelerating the production of electric vehicles. The report issues a number of recommendations, including: banning new diesel and petrol car sales by 2030; redirecting roads budgets towards walking and cycling infrastructure; supporting local authorities.

The Transport Knowledge Hub is a fantastic resource and I’m really excited about the opportunity to explore how we can maximise its use among transport stakeholders. In the South East Midlands, investing in local transport infrastructure has unlocked significant economic growth. The Hub offers a formal framework for sharing expertise with decision makers around the UK, as well as learning from the experience of others. This will enable more investment to be directed towards  local and sustainable forms of transport.
