Mayor of London urged to deliver major projects

MayorWatch has reported that the London Assembly has demanded more funds for the capital’s infrastructure, including ambitious green energy plans. In its official response to the Mayor’s 2020-21 budget, the Assembly questioned the Mayor’s infrastructure delivery record since Sadiq Khan assumed office in 2016. The report cites delays to 17 of 26 infrastructure projects outlined by Sadiq Khan in 2016, including Northern Line Extension and Crossrail. Assembly Members have called on both the Mayor and TfL to be “much clearer” about which projects are potentially at risk during the next four years and to ensure that the public and government know which projects are of the highest priority.

The Transport Knowledge Hub comes at a vital time for our transport networks. As our population continues to grow and our roads become more congested, public transport has an increasingly important role to play in keeping our country moving. Investment in local transport infrastructure, such as rail networks and bus services, can have a huge impact on development and economic growth in local areas, so I’m delighted that the Hub will provide the guidance and expertise local decision makers need to make effective investments.
