Nottingham City Council has announced it will be opening an electric vehicle service centre this summer offering MOT’s and servicing to the public as well as maintain the council’s fleet of electric vehicles. The council aims to make the city carbon neutral by 2028 and to convert 22% of all its vehicles into ultra-low emission ones by 2020. Nottingham was also the first local authority to have its air quality plan approved by the government, confirming a clean air zone will not be introduced in the city.

The Transport Knowledge Hub comes at a vital time for our transport networks. As our population continues to grow and our roads become more congested, public transport has an increasingly important role to play in keeping our country moving. Investment in local transport infrastructure, such as rail networks and bus services, can have a huge impact on development and economic growth in local areas, so I’m delighted that the Hub will provide the guidance and expertise local decision makers need to make effective investments.
