The Telegraph has reported on rail industry leaders’ warnings that the failure to electrify thousands of miles of railway threatens Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s promise to make Britain the cleanest country on earth. A letter sent to Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps by The Railway Industry Association and on behalf of industry organisations warned that unless more projects are commissioned, there will soon be no electrification happening in the UK. The letter said that “now is a critical time for rail electrification.”
