Urban Transport Group has published a report on popular activities recorded by passengers onboard buses. The report lists that 45% of people surveyed had window gazed/people watched on buses, 27% had used the internet for leisure and 24% had phoned and texted people. The report notes that one in five surveyed on a Leeds bus route stated that they chose to make their journey via the bus in order to maximise their use of time completing other activities.

The Transport Knowledge Hub comes at a vital time for our transport networks. As our population continues to grow and our roads become more congested, public transport has an increasingly important role to play in keeping our country moving. Investment in local transport infrastructure, such as rail networks and bus services, can have a huge impact on development and economic growth in local areas, so I’m delighted that the Hub will provide the guidance and expertise local decision makers need to make effective investments.
