03 September 2019, The Future of Mobility: a Transport Knowledge Hub national workshop

On 3 September 2019, the Transport Knowledge Hub held a national workshop on the Future of Mobility. The Future of Mobility was the first of a series of events which will focus on the role of transport in finding solutions to the Government’s four Grand Challenges as set out in the Industrial Strategy: future of mobility, cleaner growth, ageing society and artificial intelligence. The workshop included a panel session at which witnesses made their case for how public transport can help contribute to the future of mobility, as well as a keynote speech by George Freeman MP, Minister of State for Transport.

The Transport Knowledge Hub comes at a vital time for our transport networks. As our population continues to grow and our roads become more congested, public transport has an increasingly important role to play in keeping our country moving. Investment in local transport infrastructure, such as rail networks and bus services, can have a huge impact on development and economic growth in local areas, so I’m delighted that the Hub will provide the guidance and expertise local decision makers need to make effective investments.

Sir Peter Hendy, Chairman of Network Rail
